Moscow Airports.

Moscow Airports.

If you plan to travel to Moscow some time soon, it is important for you to get to know more about its airports. This is because the majority of Moscow airports, and this particularly relates to the international airports, are located at a significant distance from the city center. This in its turn stands for the Substantial amount of time which one needs to spend in order to get to the point of destination from the airport.

It oftentimes happens, that on the day of arrival people have important meetings in the city of their destination. If you have a meeting in Moscow on your arrival day, you’d better find out what your shortest way from the airport to the hotel and then to the meeting location is. In the majority of cases it is best to order a transfer from Moscow airport. However, there are other options available.

There are four major airports, which serve Moscow. They are Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo, Vnukovo and Zhukovskiy. All of them, except Vnukovo are located beyond the city borders. This is why transfer from Moscow airport is so comfortable for those, who arrive in Moscow through airports.

Vnukovo is located closest to the city center. It is only 28 kilometers away from downtown area and 10 kilometers away from Moscow ring road. The ways to get to the city center are numerous, including “Aero express” speed trains, a number of buses which take only about a half an hour to bring the passengers to the nearest metro stations. It is planned that Vnukovo airport is going to be served by a new metro station. But the construction has not approached its final phase. A transfer from Moscow airport “Vnukovo” still remains the most comfortable and most reliable way of getting from the airport to your desired destination point.

Sheremetyevo is located beyond the city limits, about 9 kilometers away from the Ring road. The airport is connected with Moscow metro by means of “aero express” speed trains, which are the next most reliable way of getting to the city centre after a transfer from Moscow airport. Buses bring passengers to the nearest metro stations as well. However, the buses are mainly overcrowded due to the lower price. Moreover, the risk of getting stuck in a jam is very high, unless you travel at night of course.

Domodedovo airport is located even further: 22 kilometers away from the ring road and 45 kilometers away from the city center. The airport is served by aero express speed trains, which generally take about a half an hour to bring passengers to the railroad terminal, located near Paveletskaya metro station. Taking a bus to the nearest metro station turns into a risky adventure in case of Domodedovo airport, since the chances of getting stuck in traffic jam increase substantially.

Recently opened airport in Zhukovskiy has got its own peculiarity. It is located 36 kilometers away from the city center and is not served by speed trains. The nearest railroad station is located three kilometers away from the airport. This makes transfer from Moscow airport the only reasonable option for somebody, who does not want to get stuck in an overcrowded bus and spend the rest of the day on the road.

All this is particularly important to keep in mind for those who make a transfer in Moscow and have to travel from one airport to another. Transfer from Moscow airport is particularly handy for such passengers, since it allows them to save significant amounts of time by avoiding city traffic.
